What do you love about the area?: Affordable, low taxes, small town feel, proximity to DT White Bear (walkable), community activities (walkable), great neighbors (annual block party is not to be missed!), positive interactive pedestrian traffic (with our wrap around front porch), church (CTK - walkable), charm and diversity of older homes (no cookie cutter here!), wide age range of residents.


What are some great things about White Bear Lake?: Easy access to Mlps/St. Paul. Small town feel...when we moved here I could just feel the stress melt away as I drove into town, but the big city is available when you want it. Lots of community pride. Active historical society that organizes a touring event, opening up historical homes throughout the city. Love the history of our city - feels far more like a small town rather than the burbs. Various community activities such as Marketfest, 4th of July festivities, numerous shopping events in DT White Bear throughout the year - especially during the festive Christmas season. All the local vendors in DT White Bear make for truly unique shopping experience. MANY great restaurants to choose from - all within walking distance. We also love the Friday Farmer's Market in the town square. It is within walking distance of the house and you can get great produce/flowers/baked goods, etc for the weekend and even do a little shopping downtown after.


What great things are there about your neighborhood?: Porch parties, friendly, MUCH MN nice...have I said WALKING! Running too, if you are so inclined. The walking/jogging path around White Bear Lake is a stones throw away and beautiful year round. Our neighborhood block party is so much fun - and so fun to meet the neighbors and connect. Well attended! Also, there is a nice sense of privacy when you want it...for us it's wrap around porch when we are feeling social and deck in the rear when we aren't.

What restaurants are nearby?: There are the usuals, Applebee’s, Perkins, etc but we also have allot of great local food! Washington Square, Grandma's Bakery, Olives (Pizza), Ingredients, Pezzo's (more pizza etc.) The Station, EAT, Key's Cafe, Cobblestone Cafe. There is a stretch along 61 that has recently opened several lakefront eateries - all good. Acqua, wonderful for a special occasion - looks right out onto the lake. Right at the end of our street there is Ozzies's Ice Cream and the Pizza Man as well as a delicious Asian restaurant.

What grocery stores or nearby shopping if there?: Cub Foods, Kowalski’s, Target, Walmart, Fresh Thyme and in the summer there are several farmers markets.

What do you do for interests and hobbies near the property?: Did I say WALKING? Over the weekend we rarely use the car. We love to eat so all the great restaurants in town. Also, we are active in our church right down the street, and the church strives to be involved in the surrounding neighborhood with community events. We are big movie people, so we frequent the WBT theatre which is undergoing (open during construction) a massive reno to switch to a bistro format, And there is a theatre playhouse in DT WB.

New industrial style finished basement man cave.

Key points about the house that we were drawn to when we first looked at the home: We were first drawn to the LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION! We loved where the house was located and it proximity to downtown WBL. We love history and have owned several older homes so the age the home for us was a plus. Along with the age came to charm that you don't find in the burbs. The custom millwork was incredibly striking and probably our favorite feature of the home - that and the 9 ft ceilings that give the home it's spacious feel. Next was probably the wrap around porch...unusual as so many of them in MN are screened in. It truly allows you to enjoy the lake resort like feel of the community. Our great neighbors are just a bonus we experienced after moving in!
