20805 Granada Avenue N Forest Lake MN 55025 OPEN HOUSE Saturday February 18th From 12 To 3pm
What do you love about the area?: We love living in our current neighborhood because there were a lot of kids the girls' age. The bus stop for our kids is across the street so there isn’t a long walk to the bus. It is a quiet neighborhood with many families, so taking walks around the neighborhood and surrounding neighborhoods is very peaceful. We love that our property doesn’t have anyone living directly behind us or next to us on the one side. Our yard is big enough for the kids and the dog to play in and with the backyard is fenced so the dog can roam around off leash.
What are some great things about Forest Lake?: Forest Lake is a pretty big city with a small town feel. You can't go many places without running into someone you know. Depending on how far you want to walk, you can get to the library, the YMCA, or the lake within a 20 minute walk, or 10 minute bike ride. The City has added more sidewalks and an overpass this past year, so you are able to get to the bike trail without having to cross any major roadways. You can take the bike path from Forest Lake, South to Hugo or North all the way to North Branch. There are also two large lakes right in town to enjoy various water activities. Forest Lake is 2,251 acres and Clear Lake is 430 acres. There are many different kinds of fish in each lake with Forest Lake being well known for their muskies. There is an indoor skating rink as well as community rinks in the winter months that are kept up with a Zamboni, so the ice is great. There are many community programs that people can enjoy through Forest Lake Community Education. Forest Lake also has a 9-hole golf course and two 18-hole golf courses. Right on the edge of town you can enjoy the Running Aces card room year round with harness horse racing during the spring and summer months. They also host many entertainers throughout the year.
What restaurants are nearby?: There are many great restaurants - Aqua, Stella's, Meat Market, Vannelli’s, Pi Pizzeria, Old Log Cabin, Running Aces, just to name a few. The broasted chicken at The Old Log Cabin is excellent! There are also many fast food restaurants to choose from.
What grocery stores or nearby shopping if there?: We have a Walmart, Target and Cub Foods for grocery shopping and White Bear Lake is just a 15 minute drive and they have a Kowalski’s.
Information about the schools in our area: There are many options for schools in the community. Lakes International Language Academy (LILA), ISD831, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, North Lakes Academy and Central Montessori Elementary. Our kids go to LILA, which is just a mile away. The school is outstanding. It's a limited enrollment charter school without the private school prices, yes it’s free. My 5th grader is fluent in Spanish, and my kindergartner is well on her way. There are also many options for in-home daycares or licensed daycare centers.
