What do you love about the area?: This area has been a dream to raise our children in. The schools are close and there are plenty of parks nearby. The lake is within walking distance. During the summer, we often walked and spent the entire day at the beach. A true treasure has been the walking/bike path. It goes several miles both north and south. If you like boating, there is a nice and new marina to keep your boat at. Forest Lake is a true gem to the area, being one of the larger lakes around. The quiet cul-de-sac is also a great place for kids to play.


What are some great things about Forest Lake?: The City of Forest Lake offers a small town atmosphere with big city amenities. And as I said above, the bike path is a town favorite. It is well maintained and kept very clean. Whenever we have the itch to go to the city, it is only a quick 25 minutes south on the freeway. We have also enjoyed the community services Forest Lake offers, such as affordable gymnastics and soccer classes. There is also a brand new YMCA. It has really been a wonderful place to raise our kids.


What restaurants are nearby?: There are tons of restaurants with a variety of food for all tastes, including Applebee’s and Norman Quacks, both within walking distance. 

What grocery stores or nearby shopping is there?: A new addition of Aldi has really rounded out the grocery store selections. Forest Lake also has a Wal-Mart and Target.


Information about the schools in our area: There are many school choices in the area. One charter school offers a robust language immersion program. Another, for younger folks, offers a Montessori style learning environment.

What do you do for interests and hobbies near the property?: We have enjoyed Forest Lake immensely. Boating is a true pleasure in the summer. Fishing has been a draw in both the summer and winter, as ice fishing is always a productive pursuit. Wild River State Park is 30 minutes away and William O'Brien State Park is about 20 minutes away. Both parks boast plenty of hiking trails, and lots of campsites, with access to St. Croix River. Many days in our summers were spent exploring these nearby parks.

Tells us about any additional property highlights, upgrades, recent updates that have been done: We have truly enjoyed raising our children in this house. It is a big house to us, which was wonderful when it was just too cold to go outside in the winters. There is plenty of room to run around and burn off excess energy. We have loved the heated workshop in the back for both winter and summer projects. The second kitchen downstairs has been wonderful when having guests stay for a long period of time. It really gave them their own private space. And the family favorite has always been the living room, with the oversized brick fireplace. Many lazy afternoons were spent playing board games in front of the fire!

Key points about the house that we were drawn to when we first looked at the home: We were first drawn to the house by both the huge maple trees and the square footage. And then after seeing the unique floor plan, we were sold!
