Shakopee is a located southwest of Minneapolis in Scott County. The city lays on the south bank bend of the Minnesota River and has a population of just under 40,000.

U.S. Highway 169 and County Highway 101 are two of the main routes in Shakopee. Highway 169 and State Highway 13 connect Shakopee to the rest of the Minneapolis/Saint Paul region.

The City of Shakopee is served primarily by the Shakopee School District.
