What we Love about the area:

We have a more rural setting, but it's also nice to have a small town atmosphere just a couple of miles to Chisago City/Lindstrom/Center City, etc. or the bigger city of Forest Lake when we need more options for shopping or dining or entertainment. We have a very smooth commute to Minneapolis or St. Paul and surrounding suburbs. My husband and I commuted to the metro for more than 20 years; we had the best of both worlds. 
Living by the lake has been so interesting and relaxing. We have been so fortunate to be able to have lived many years in our dream home on the lake. We have boated for many, many years, but our lives seem to be taking us in a different direction now.

Great things about your town/city? 

We like that Menards and Home Depot, Walmart and Cub and Target are located nearby in Forest Lake. There is also Walgreens, automotive, hardware, paint stores, movie theatre, lots of dining choices including fast food. The fourth of July in the area is always hopping and the city celebrations are fun. We also have a bowling alley in Wyoming and other dining choices there. It is great to have so many different areas at our fingertips.
If you are in a neighborhood, what great things do you do there?
Our neighborhood is great for long, beautiful walks or bike rides. We are on a peninsula so to speak which makes the area very unique and special. Our neighbors are very friendly, and diverse in age. But, you can decide how much involvement you want. Since our children have left home and we are retired, my husband and I enjoy our time together on our deck overlooking the lake relaxing and taking it all in.
Great Parks/Playgrounds Nearby:
We also have beautiful parks in the Chisago Lakes area, the closest being Paradise Park and Railroad Park.
Great restaurants nearby:

We have tons of choices for dining in all the surrounding cities - it boggles my mind. There are the non-franchise restaurants such as Vanelli's, Za, Stella's, Friar Tucks, Aqua close to Forest Lake and then there is Meredee's, the Lindstrom Golf Grill, the Northern Grill, just to name a few in Chisago Lakes area and all kinds of pubs and grills along with many franchise type restaurants like Don Julio's, Perkins, Applebees, most of the fast food options, Norman Quacks, etc.. There is no need to travel long distances to have an extremely tasty and competitively priced meal; it's all within a short distance from home.
Wonderful Grocery Stores or near by shopping:

Besides the usual (Walmart Super Store, Target, Cub, Aldi's) in Forest Lake, we also have the super choices of Brinks in Chisago City for wonderfully fresh groceries and a small-town, honest and friendly atmosphere. And, there is the very interesting Wyoming Drug store that if full of all kinds of interesting things. Bruce's Foods in Wyoming is another great choice for fresh meats and many choices for groceries. 
North Branch is only about 15-20 minutes drive and they offer more choices for restaurants and shopping at the outlet center and beyond. The cities of White Bear Township and Maplewood are only about 20 minutes away where you'll find a Sam's Club and/or CostCo, a shopping mall, fabric store, tons of restaurants, couple of stadium seating theatres, Fleet Farm, many car dealerships and franchised food establishments, bars and grills.
Great things about the Schools:

We have been out of that scene for awhile, but have heard nothing but good about the schools in Chisago.
What did you do for interests and hobbies near to the property?

I love taking long walks in the neighborhood and taking canoe rides to see what's happening around the lake. Lately, one of our favorite things to do is relax on our deck or at the fire pit and watch what's happening on the lake. I can also sit in my relaxing chair, watching through the cathedral windows in the great room, as the eagles fly by. We also enjoy grooming our many flower beds or just enjoy the different colors they present at different times of the year. Big Green and Little Green lakes are good for fishing, swimming, skiing and generally the boat traffic is pretty light, except for the holidays when it only slightly gets a little busier. The lake is over 1800 acres so there is plenty of room for everyone to enjoy it.
Any additional property highlights, upgrades, recent updates that have been done.

The most awesome feature of our home is the lake view. Other highlights are the many flower beds, the more private deck overlooking Big Green/Little Green lake, the fire pit on the lakeside, the warm feeling of the home on the inside, the open floor plan, the gas fireplace, the storage space, the brick feature in the kitchen, the abundance of kitchen cupboards and counter space, the bricked fireplace wall, the bow window, large patio doors and cathedral beamed/cedar ceiling and cathedral windows above patio doors. Also, enjoy the higher ceilings in the main level of the home. I like the laminate kitchen flooring for cleaning quickly.
Key points about the house that you were drawn to when we first looked at the home:

We have thoroughly enjoyed calling this our home for many years! We worked hard and fast to purchase it and have always felt fortunate we have been able to live in our dream home.
My husband and I fell in love with the lake view, the fact that we could just hop in our boat and take off and the warm feeling of the home and area - it gave us a big hug as soon as we walked in the door. The open floor plan has been awesome for communicating with guests and the windows above the kitchen sink and in the bathroom have provided a more pleasant atmosphere. We love the walkout lower level to the lake and the beach/swimming area has been wonderful for our children and grandchildren. The bugs are usually at a minimum on the deck because of its location off the ground.
Average utility costs?

The utility company is Xcel, where we budget $152 monthly for electric and gas. That has worked well. The home is on well and septic so no additional monthly charges for water and sewer, except for cleaning out sewer every 3-5 years.
We use Waste Management for trash and that is reasonably priced at about $29 per month, but it is billed quarterly.
