Seller Says:

What do you love about the town your home is in?

Scandia is a friendly small town with many family and outdoor enthusiasts activities close by. From the many state and county parks (William O'brien, Big Marine, Square Lake) and lakes for fishing to the bike trails that take you many miles (see http://www.scandiaparks.org/scandiabikemap.pdf) there is always something to do. It's close to Forest Lake, Stillwater, Big Marine and St. Croix falls and has a great local store if you need anything in a pinch. Scandia has family fun activities throughout the year including Taco Daze, Scandia carnival and events sponsored by the Scandia Lions that bring people from all around. Scandia community center has great summer activities for kids and an ice rink for skating in winter. Elim Lutheran Church has fun hills to sled on in the winter. Big Marine has a great 4th of July parade.

If you are in a neighborhood, what great things do you do there?

Our neighborhood has a great group of families that watch out for each other. There is often a bon fire going or people hanging out on someone's front porch. Kids play between each others houses and can ride bikes around with each other without worrying. Parents watch for each others families. The kids have direct access to the Scandia elementary school to play at the park or for sporting events without traveling on busy roads. You can often find someone riding around the neighborhood on ATV and giving children rides in trailers.

My favorite restaurants around this home are:

There are a lot of restaurants around Scandia. Locally there is Scandia pizza with there fantastic homemade pizza and spaghetti, Chico's with a Mexican flair and Scandia cafe for great morning breakfast's. Miester's is known for great burgers and broasted chicken. The Scandia store has a nice deli with fresh homemade soups, salads and sandwiches along with hand dipped ice cream that kids love to eat. Nearby there is the Old Log Cabin, Sal's and Aqua's on Forest Lake.

Grocery stores I love to shop at?

You can find many stores to get everyday essentials and fresh produce at. Forest Lake, Stillwater and Chisago City all have stores that offer it all. There is a great farmers market weekly in Scandia that locals sell fresh produce at during the summer.

Key points about the property that I/we were drawn to?

We looked a long time before finding this beautiful lot to build on. The development offers custom homes with lots that all have a different feel to them. Sitting on the back deck is peaceful with a feeling of being out in the country. We enjoyed many family movie nights in the theatre room, barbecues and neighborhood bonfires at the fire pit. Kids love playing in the natural sugar sand that surrounds the pit. We spent many cold winter nights with the fireplaces on and time spent in the Sauna. The sunroom is a great room to read/relax and soak up the sun.

Why people should move to this area; why I/we were attracted?

We love the town of Scandia, being on a cul-de-sac with paved sidewalks allows for walking and biking with kids/pets a safer alternative to being on busy traveled roads. There are many lakes, rivers and parks nearby. It is a easy commute to Stillwater, Forest Lake, Mahtomedi and the Cites. You can be to either St. Paul or Minneapolis in 30 minutes.

Any great schools or other things to mention?

Scandia Elementary is ranked one of the best schools within the Forest Lake school dist. Its authorized as an International Baccalaureate World School for educational curriculum. Scandia Elementary offers a challenging curriculum in the areas of literacy, mathematics, social studies, science, and health. Specialists in physical education, vocal and instrumental music, media, special education, technology and gifted resources, and counseling complete the well-rounded educational program at Scandia. It has strong parent involvement and support along with a variety of sports offered on site. The staff are friendly and make each child feel at home.

Forest Lake schools are known for academics and sports (hockey, football, dance etc..). There is also a growing immersion school, LILA, a charter school and St. Peters Catholic School along with many preschools and a strong ECFE for children's growth. Forest Lake also offers preschool at Scandia Elementary during the week.

Anything else you can think of to attract a potential buyer?

We love the neighborhood, families and friends we made in the community. We enjoy being outdoors, riding motorized toys around to events and raising our children in a small town that offers a lot of variety. Walking to nearby parks and getting ice cream is always a family favorite.

What did you do for interests and hobbies near to the property?

Hobbies and interests near home include biking, swimming, fishing, walking, playing at parks, snowmobiling and riding ATV's. We also enjoy snow tubing, skiing and snowboarding at Wild Mountain, Eko Backen and Trollhaugen.
